Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School is a progressive, coed, academically-rigorous day and boarding school serving approximately 700 students from age three through 12th grade. The campus is located on 140 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the School is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.

Technology Department Summer Intern, Part time, unpaid, 6/15/24 - 8/15/24

Summary: Working with the IT team, the intern will help move and clean various equipment, organize and tag equipment, set up computers, and other duties as assigned. The hours are between 9:00 am - 4:00pm, daily. This position is for summer only and is unpaid. Candidates must be willing to complete a background check process.

This is an unpaid internship.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with organizing technology equipment

• Relocate old equipment and process it for recycling

• Assist with configuring new Chromebooks, iPads, and laptops

• Clean, tag, and label existing devices and peripherals

• Setup classroom devices and peripherals

• Assist with cleaning computer projection equipment

• Assist with supporting summer camp’s basic technical needs

• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner.

• Knowledge of Mac and Windows computers.

• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to perform all of the duties of the position.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, move, or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds frequently and fifty pounds of force occasionally. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work.

• Also required is the ability to work in an environment using distance, peripheral, and depth perception, the ability to understand and distinguish speech and must be able to exchange information accurately.
