Maintenance Technician, Level 2
Summary: Sandy Spring Friends School seeks an experienced Level 2 Maintenance Technician to perform general work for the purpose of maintaining facilities for students, staff and public in a safe, operating condition, preserving the good condition and functionality of our buildings and grounds. A Maintenance Technician is a thorough professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines, and will also be a team player. This position may be required to work overtime hours.
Compensation: $25-$32 per hour
Responsibilities

Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards.

Perform routine maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels etc.)

Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary.

Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.

Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed.

Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.)
-
Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide.

Drive a school bus as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Job Requirements:

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a maintenance technician

High school diploma or equivalent; Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems.

Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.

Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices.

Ability to secure and maintain an active CDL with passenger endorsement; although not required, candidates who already possess an active CDL will be highly competitive for this role

Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.

Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field is desired.

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) is desired.
Essential Physical Requirements:
This is a highly physical position requiring but not limited to the following:

Sitting less than 1 hour per day, standing greater than 7 hours per day, walking 3-7 hours per day ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull greater than 50 pounds, climbing stairs/ladders 1-3 hours per day, moderate bending, excessive squatting and frequent twisting, kneeling, and reaching.

Also required is normal vision including distance, peripheral, and depth perception, normal visual color discrimination, normal hearing, and speaking/reading/writing English proficiently.

Exposure to chemicals, noise levels above 85dB, dust, fumes, odors, humidity, as well as slippery and uneven surfaces should be expected.
